Your visit to Newtongrange Train Station should be a little more colourful this summer thanks to the Newtongrange Guerrilla Gardeners who have signed up to ScotRail’s ‘Adopt a Station’ initiative.
The programme enables local community volunteers to improve the physical environment of Scotland’s stations, and more than 250 ScotRail stations and over 1,000 volunteers are now part of the programme.
The Newtongrange Guerrilla Gardeners have been successful in their application and have received funds to purchase two large planters which they will fill with bulbs and perennials to provide year-round colour.
Look out for the gardeners as they continue to give nature a helping hand throughout the village, tidying and planting the green spaces, and feel free to join them on Wednesday evenings from 7pm at The Pool. All welcome!
