about

The Newtongrange Resilience Volunteers (NRV) is a community group which was established early in 2020 to provide a community response and promote resilience within the area of Newtongrange, Midlothian in particular response to the COVID pandemic.

In late 2020, the NRV came together as a group, to explore the feasibility and desire to formalise the organisation. The NRV recognised that to properly constitute a Community Development Trust, there had to be a clear mandate from the community. To this end, a community wide survey was conducted, both online and through a leaflet drop across the village. Of the 283 respondents, 96.8% wanted to see a community development  trust set up in the village. As a result of the positive feedback via the survey a  steering group was set up consisting of many representatives from village organisations to move the task  of creating Newtongrange Development Trust (NDT). forward.

In February 2021 NDT was granted charitable status by OSCR - The Scottish Charity Regulator and listed as a public limited company in Scotland. The Trust now has a dedicated and highly skilled management committee to lead the organisation on its next part of the journey to start to deliver some of the projects the community would like to see happen in the village.
